On 29.01.2026 in Dresden, the HyFlow project kick-off took place between the 5 members of its consortium: Stargate Hydrogen, Fraunhofer IFAM Dresden, UCLouvain, JEMA and Jentec. The HyFlow project was co-funded by the Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETP) of the European Union and local agencies.

Our consortium, composed of three companies, one university and one research center, is the ideal combination for the technical challenges that we will face for the next three years. The HyFlow project aims to significantly reduce investment and electricity costs of alkaline water electrolysis by demonstrating high performance (PEM-like) in industrial alkaline electrolysis stacks. The technical improvements behind this performance upgrade are not just little add-ons to classical stacks, they imply a complete re-design of existing echnologies, including flow-engineering of porous transport electrodes (PTEs) and advanced electrode coatings. This approach - already validated at lab-scale at UCLouvain - will be scaled up to industrial standarts in the framework of HyFlow.
